Too Sexy to Fly or Too Afraid?
Kyla Ebbert, the 23-year-old college student who was confronted about her sexy clothing on a recent SW Airlines flight, may have developed a fear of flying on Southwest. Before takeoff, a male SW Airlines employee called her to the front of the plane to ask her to change her inappropriate clothing, saying that Southwest is a "family airline."
Kyla was flying a one-day trip from San Diego to Tucson for a doctor's appointment and had no luggage with her. The SW employee suggested she buy new clothes in the gift shop and take a later flight. Kyla needed to make the flight to get to her appointment and asked for a compromise. The employee told her to pull her sweater more closely over her chest and pull down her short skirt. Kyla returned to her seat, covered up with a blanket, and cried all the way to Tucson. She is awaiting an apology from Southwest for this humiliating experience.
Coincidentally, on her return flight on Southwest, a flight attendant complimented her on the VERY same outfit! Go figure....And the clothing in question....I've seen more skin revealed as my daughter walks out the door each day to high school. Ms. Ebbert's fashion choice was no different from what young women are wearing these days. I saw her outfit for myself today when Kyla Ebbert appeared on Today with her mother and her attorney. Maybe her real crime is being a blonde, extremely striking, green-eyed beauty with long tanned legs.
The bottom line is that Kyla Ebbert was humiliated, pointed out, and made to feel different. No one wants to feel that way for something beyond their control--like fear of flying. Just like the woman from Australia, Leesa, who wrote to me about her bad flying experience. She was so stressed on her flight because of her fear of flying that the pilot had to come back to speak to her. At the end of the flight, her humiliation grew when the pilot announced over the PA that he hoped the woman who was so afraid to fly had a pleasant flight anyway. Talk about embarrassing and being humiliated! The whole flight now knew about her!
The good news is that later after using our Fearless FlightKit, this Aussie woman is flying much more pleasantly. She no longer calls attention to herself because of her fear of flying.
So if your fear of flying is causing you embarrassment and humiliation and you're tired of trying to cover it up under a blanket like Kyla Ebbert hid with her sexy outfit, then order your own Fearless FlightKit. Or you can keep on sitting in your seat, covering up your fear with a blanket. Not a good way to fly, is it?
