You are safer flying on a commercial airliner than you are walking as a pedestrian.  For years I have repeated this fact in my classes.  I based it on a renowned MIT researcher’s statistics that each year approximately 7,000 people in the United States die as pedestrians.

In less than 24 hours, I escaped from cactus in Phoenix and its 100 degree September steaminess to the Piazza de Novona here in picturesque Rome.  I have modern jet travel to thank for whisking me away to this Italian adventure.

 

TSA Blasted for Bomb Security

People with a fear of flying will be disheartened by the headlines in today’s USA Today. The story reports that a recent investigation revealed that the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has fallen way short in its role to prevent bombs from getting into aircraft cargo.
